During the 17th century in Venice, Safinia enjoys a content and joyful life alongside her father, a skilled artisan, and his apprentice Angelo. However, their lives take an unexpected and dark turn when Ricardo Carrá arrives and informs Safinia that the wealthy Poliziano family desires her to be a companion to their ailing lady. Despite her refusal, she later discovers that there is more to this proposal than meets the eye. Tragically, her father is accused of theft and then murdered under mysterious circumstances.
