For a few years now, opposing groups of Japanese youth have been engaged in a covert battle in the city of Kyoto. The first group champions the exclusion of foreigners from Japanese society, while the other group clamors for their assimilation. In a bid to prevent a violent escalation, these groups have agreed to resolve the matter once and for all through an underground tournament where the best fighters from each faction will face off against each other. This tournament, christened the "B.B. Project," pays homage to the "Black Boats" that brought foreigners to Japan on orders given by Perry.
Franck, a young Parisian with an affinity for fighting, came to Kyoto ostensibly to study, but his real motives were to win over Japanese girls and indulge in video games- his idea of the "Japanese dream." However, when Franck gets caught up in a fight between hooligans and the inscrutable Megumi, he is inadvertently thrust into the B.B. Project.
