Akiko Hayashi has ambitious and distinct aspirations: to debut a flourishing manga while still in school, feature her beloved actor as its star, and eventually wed him. Unfortunately, she lacks the drive and proficiency to transform these dreams into reality. Upon a friend's recommendation, Akiko enrolls in unconventional, underground art classes with the fierce Kenzou Hidaka, known simply as "Sensei." Initially, Akiko expects a smooth ride and effortless artistic improvement. Yet, to her dismay, Sensei proves to be a stern, exacting instructor who shows zero interest in manga.
Conversely, Akiko learns to appreciate Sensei's dedicated and genuine concern for his students by accepting his rigorous challenges. As a result, she develops an intimate connection with Sensei and grasps what it takes to become a prosperous mangaka and the responsibility of being an adult.
