Ayumu Kurihara, a 2nd-year middle school pupil, finds herself sitting next to the striking but peculiar Misuzu Tsukishima after switching lessons. Mizusu appears to dislike boys, which makes it difficult for her to establish relationships with others. As a result, she starts off by keeping her distance from Ayumu. However, as she observes Ayumu's kind and truthful nature, she gradually opens up to her. Ayumu is attracted to the delicate yet captivating Mizusu, and their friendship deepens.
