Living in Area 11, the land formerly known as Japan, Lelouch Lamperouge is a Britannian student. The Holy Britannian Empire had invaded and stripped Japan of its identity in the year 2010. After coming across a military transport plane crash, Lelouch decides to investigate the wreckage by wandering into a prohibited area. However, Britannian soldiers patrolling the area threaten to execute him for unauthorized entry. Fortunately, Lelouch is rescued by C.C., a woman he found confined in the plane's cargo, who grants Lelouch the power of Geass. Geass is a supernatural ability that demands absolute obedience, making his commands unfaltering.
With immense power, Lelouch adopts the persona of the revolutionary icon, Zero, and makes it his mission to destroy the Britannian Empire and avenge those who had wronged him in the past.
