Tsukushi Tsukamoto is a hapless victim of bullying, thanks to his feeble physique and introverted personality. But everything changes when he meets Jin Kazama, a peer at Seiseki High School who is a prodigious soccer player. Kazama comes to Tsukamoto's rescue when he is being bullied and asks him to play futsal with his team because they're short of one player.
Despite struggling to cope with the skill levels of his teammates, Tsukamoto is dedicated and tireless. Even a painful foot injury doesn't dissuade him from running around the field. His spirited performances on the ground inspire the entire team, especially Kazama, who was hitherto indifferent to the sport. When Tsukamoto scores the winning goal, he discovers a passion for soccer and playing alongside Kazama.
Encouraged by Kazama, Tsukamoto decides to join the Seiseki soccer club, oblivious to the team's reputation as a national powerhouse. His lack of talent threatens to hinder his progress even before he clears the selection process. But Tsukamoto sticks to what he's good at - running - and forces his way into the Seiseki team.
