In the aftermath of the apocalypse depicted in the initial Devilman, Akira Fudo finds himself trapped in the fiery pits of hell. His mission is to locate the soul of his cherished Miki, but things are not simple with Doctor Hell also scheming in the same underworld. Fuelled by a desire for retribution against Mazinger, Doctor Hell implores for more power. However, Akira's actions provoke the wrath of Hades, who is determined to avenge the perceived insults inflicted on him by Akira. Thus, a series of events are set in motion that pits Akira against the fury of Hades himself.
