Recently joining the police force of Tawagoto precinct, Yumi Takeshita exudes a cheerful demeanor. During her middle school years, she was spared from being struck by a truck thanks to an anonymous individual. It wasn't until years later during her debut attempt at arresting someone did Yumi reunite with her rescuer, a magician named Tohru Ichidaiji, whom she had longed to meet. Assigned to diverse and peculiar tasks as a police officer, Yumi constantly relies on the resourceful Tohru's assistance.
