Despite her mother's occasional abusive behavior, Wakaba holds fond memories of being at home with her mother and sharing a homemade meal. However, when her mother leaves her, she is taken in by her distant relative, the young Hinata Kazutomo. Initially resistant to the arrangement, Wakaba gradually comes to value Kazutomo's attempts to assist her in recovering and advancing.
