Out of nowhere arrives a young fellow, Himuro Shousuke, with dreams of becoming a shogi master. He is informed of the standard procedures for becoming a professional shogi player, but Shousuke presents a glowing recommendation from the esteemed master Mikami Sankichi. Allegedly, Shousuke had learned from Sankichi in Kochi and wishes to skip the early stages of shogi training to attain elite status. Though his credentials are met with skepticism, Shousuke defeats several skilled players who were pitted against him. While some are disenchanted with an outsider's entry into their esteemed hierarchy, will they be able to impede his ascent? The future holds both the internal wrangling of the shogi realm and dynamic shogi matches!
