As a new student at Teiken High School, Maeda struggles with both nervousness-induced stuttering and an overall lack of coordination. His entrance into the school is marred by an unfortunate incident in which he accidentally strikes a teacher. Despite this notoriety, various clubs attempt to recruit Maeda for their own purposes, recognizing his potential as a valuable asset in overcoming rival clubs. However, Maeda is not interested in socializing or joining any teams—he dreams only of becoming a boxing champion. His ultimate goal is to take down the leader of the boxing club and prove himself as a skilled fighter. Interestingly, "Rokudenashi" is a Japanese term meaning "good-for-nothing", underscoring Maeda's perceived lack of worth by those around him.
