During her elementary school years, Sakurako Kagawa created a distinctive portrait of her classmate Ruri, causing the girl to flee the classroom in tears. Unfortunately, Ruri later experienced a car accident followed by the divorce of her parents, leading to a rumor that seeing Kagawa's artwork brought misfortune.
As a high schooler, Kagawa only draws pictures of an imaginary companion to keep herself occupied. However, when she forgets her sketchbook in the art room and a fellow student catches sight of it, she panics. Akiharu "Haru" Hayama strives to comfort Kagawa by reassuring her that her drawings are neither unsightly nor cursed. After several attempts, Hayama encourages Kagawa to not be ashamed of her interests. Eventually, Kagawa realizes that she has developed feelings for Hayama, but she questions the extent to which she likes him.
