Society is thrown into turmoil when brainless, flesh-eating zombies emerge unexpectedly on an ordinary day. One witness to the horrors of these creatures is high school student Takashi Komuro, a second-year student at Fujimi Academy. He quickly escapes to the roof with his friends Rei Miyamoto and Hisashi Igou, but they soon discover the full extent of the zombie-infested world they find themselves in.
Now, in High School of the Dead, Takashi and Rei must band together with an assortment of oddball individuals, including Saeko Busujima, the kendo club's leader; brilliant heiress Saya Takagi; seductive school nurse Shizuka Marikawa; and firearm-obsessed otaku Kouta Hirano. This unlikely group must confront the horrifying undead and fight to survive against all odds.
