Her peace was disrupted with the arrival of Hampnie Hambart, a bizarre, mysterious figure infamous as the "Man-eating Toy," whom Ai claimed as her father. Hampnie mercilessly slaughtered the village folk, leaving a traumatized Ai all alone. With nowhere to go, she chose to join Hampnie on his journey.
