The "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception" are abilities possessed by a teenage girl, enabling her to see the "death" of all things and destroy their "origin." After a two-year coma caused by a car accident, she recovers. Before the accident, she had two distinct personalities - one male named Shiki (織) and one female named Shiki (式). It is customary in her family to raise children with two personalities, one male (a "yang") and one female (a "yin"). The two personalities have different speaking styles, with the male using "ore" and the female using "watashi." Upon awakening, the protagonist realizes that she can no longer feel the male personality and assumes he died in the accident. She also feels disconnected from her past memories and does not feel like herself, even though she knows she is Shiki. To recover her old self and the "dead" Shiki, she adopts a cold demeanor resembling the male Shiki and acts similarly to the female Shiki. Tōko understands the protagonist's sense of detachment and regards her as a new third personality.
