There existed a monster named Karma who derived pleasure from challenging his victims to a contest of intelligence. If the contender emerged victorious, the creature would offer them the gift of one desire; conversely, if they failed, Karma would devour their very soul. Meanwhile, a young monk known as Hanasaku Ikkyuu had gained widespread renown for his sharp wit. He avidly honed his acumen by solving intricate riddles until his mother fell ill. Upon realizing his intellect could not alleviate her pain, Ikkyuu abandoned his pursuits.

It was then that Karma finally revealed himself, offering Ikkyuu his perilous bet. Could Karma's proposal be the very opportunity Ikkyuu needed to harness his intellect and assist those around him?
