Under the name "Kalbi," Shuuto Haruno indulges in casual gaming. He has become acquainted with "Maorin," a charming girl with whom he has been corresponding for some time. Haruno anticipates with excitement their long-awaited encounter, hoping it will provide the opportunity for him to obtain a girlfriend finally. However, his buddies caution him against the dangers of socializing with strangers on the internet. Fearing that Mao might be deceiving Haruno, they fill him with apprehension.
Notwithstanding his friends' misgivings, Haruno unswervingly believes in his charming online acquaintance and decides to go ahead with the meeting. Mao's lateness and evasive behavior arouse his suspicions, which soon culminate in confirmation of his greatest fears: the person he has been admiring as "Maorin" is actually a man named Mao Suzuki. To compound his disappointment, Suzuki is exceedingly popular, and Haruno knows there is no possibility of a romantic liaison between them.
In spite of their uncomfortable introduction and Suzuki's actual gender, the two warm to each other rapidly, sharing a critical interest in gaming. Haruno discovers that Suzuki's attractive qualities, which he had come to know via their aura, are still very much present. Even so, he wonders if his unrequited feelings are justified, especially since he apprehends that Suzuki's stony facade would melt before the charms of a person that he is interested in.
