Throughout middle school and high school, Aya Kurata has harbored feelings for Kouta Yokomizo. However, when she becomes friends with Sara Mizuki in high school, Aya discovers that Sara and Kouta have developed a romance together. Realizing that neither of them will make a move, Aya takes it upon herself to help them become a couple. Despite her best efforts, Aya finds it difficult to move past her own feelings for Kouta.
Aya's heartbreak intensifies until she meets Ryuu, an older boy who challenges her selfless mindset. Unlike Aya, Ryuu views love as a selfish toxin. He urges Aya to be truthful with herself and her emotions. With Ryuu's guidance, Aya may realize that love can lead to her romantic happiness.
