The protagonist is a boy who has become infatuated with an older girl who is widely revered for her exceptional writing skills. So consumed by his adoration, he has neglected his secret pastime for the last two months. For a decade, he has been meticulously chronicling the life of a fictitious girl in a series of notebooks. Every detail, such as her demeanor, birthdate, interests, and most cherished dialogues is carefully preserved in these volumes. To him, this made-up persona has been his source of platonic companionship and romantic fantasy. However, as he meets and falls for a real person, he decides to discard all of his notes to purge himself of this obsession.
He chooses to dispatch them by fire at the local temple, hoping to erase his obsession once and for all. Much to his astonishment, he encounters the object of his affection at the same shrine. They engage in a conversation and she reveals to him that she is struggling with writer's block due to her inexperience in certain areas. As a thunderstorm brews overhead, the protagonist feels that he can confide in her his own secret with newfound confidence. In a bold move, he opens the bag that he brought with him, expecting to find his notebooks, only to discover that the girl he has been fabricating for a decade has inexplicably come to life, standing before him in the nude.
