In the chaotic era of Bakumatsu, the Shinsengumi safeguard the capital city of Kyoto along with the Tokugawa Bakufu. Their reputed "demon" is none other than Vice Commander Hijikata Toshizo, and among the skilled swordsmen in the group is Okita Souji, who idolizes him. However, Okita harbors a deep resentment for Hijikata that is about to surface... in the form of an awakening within him.
