Fourth-grader Ayumu Fujino is a talented artist who regularly showcases her four-panel manga in the school newspaper. However, when her teacher asks her to make space for truant student Kyomoto's manga, she feels envious when his work receives high praise. Fujino decides to improve her skills and compete with Kyomoto.
Despite her best efforts, Fujino struggles to achieve her goal and eventually gives up on making manga by the end of sixth grade. Years later, on graduation day, Fujino is unexpectedly tasked with delivering Kyomoto's certificate. The encounter between the two has unimaginable consequences for both of them.
