Kiwako, a 28-year-old ballet dancer, feels unsatisfied with her life. Her profession as a dancer does not pay enough to make ends meet, and so she works at a bar. She considers quitting her career to pursue the things she has missed out on, such as smoking and indulging in sweets.
One day, she meets her neighbor, a 52-year-old German language professor. To her surprise, she develops feelings for him and confesses them impulsively. Their love story becomes complicated as Kiwako learns that even in love, there may be times of animosity towards one another.
