Ichiko Izumiya, a youthful English scholar, dreams of emulating her father's path as a fashionable American novel translator. Eventually, she musters the courage to divulge to him her romantic affections for Eriko, a student of law. Ichiko endeavors to live her homosexuality on her own terms, but finds herself questioning the essence of her bond with Eriko: Is she truly homosexual or merely enamored with a compassionate individual of the same gender?
