To rebel against her controlling mother, Yukari adopts a "bad girl" persona that involves dyeing her hair, polishing her nails, and dating an older man with whom she has an intimate but unfulfilling relationship. In contrast, Miki is a "good girl" who possesses classic Japanese beauty and is known for her quiet, bookish nature and aloof demeanor.
When the two are forced to share a double desk at the beginning of the school term, Yukari initially feels annoyed by Miki's behavior. However, her perception changes when she catches Miki gently kissing a statue of Mars in the Art Room after school. In that moment, their connection becomes undeniable, and they both realize that everything has changed between them.
