This anime is based on the doujin fighting game Melty Blood, created by Watanabe Seisakujou (now French Bread). It serves as one of two side-story sequels which takes place one year after the original Type-Moon game Tsukihime, specifically after the good ending story of Arcueid.
A year has passed since the "Serial Vampire Homicide case" was solved in Tsukihime. However, rumors of a new serial killer have surfaced, leading Shiki Toono to patrol the city once again in search of the phantom killer. During his patrol, he encounters Sion Eltnam Atlasia, a member of the Alchemist of Atlas church group who is seeking a cure for vampirism. Sion requires data from the last True Ancestor, Arcueid, in order to achieve this.
Meanwhile, Ciel is also on patrol in search of the rumored killer. Akiha's recent unusual behavior, combined with Arcueid's absence, only adds to the mystery. Could Arcueid possibly be the killer?
