In the year 2130, following the third world war, Japan became plagued with vast contaminated regions dubbed "Blackspots". These afflicted areas were enclosed by towering Walls employed for quarantine. Over time, these forsaken wastelands exhibited signs of life as "unneeded" survivors, who had been abandoned within the Blackspots, emerged bearing strange abilities such as fire, wind, and brute strength. These individuals with supernatural powers came to be identified as "Needless" after they were ostracized and expelled due to fear and apprehension.
