Gabimaru, also known as "The Hollow," was a ninja from Iwagakure Village who had gained a reputation for his cold and emotionless demeanor. His fellow ninja set him up, resulting in his imprisonment and subsequent placement on death row. Exhausted by the constant betrayal and bloodshed of his former life, Gabimaru yearned for death. Despite his apathy, he possessed a deep-rooted desire to reunite with his wife, whom he had softened for and failed to eliminate, giving him a reason to live. Thus, he repeatedly defied all attempts to execute him.
Asaemon, a renowned executioner, observed Gabimaru's plight and made an offer: accompany her on an expedition to an island south of Japan to search for the elixir of life and receive a full pardon from the Shogunate. The catch? This island was rumored to be Paradise, and the team, consisting of those sentenced to death, might not be prepared for the challenges and enigmas it held.
