Despite having a good reputation at work, Sanae Nozue finds his life to be dull and repetitive at the age of 39. He has no interest in pursuing a promotion and would much rather spend his free time relaxing at home. Nozue feels too old to explore new hobbies and expand his horizons.
However, Nozue's ambitious young colleague, Minoru Togawa, takes notice of his behavior and decides to introduce him to new experiences. Together they engage in activities that are typically associated with women, rather than traditional masculine pastimes. They dine at popular eateries and engage in casual conversations that are typically reserved for women. While this behavior may seem unusual to some, it may be exactly what Nozue needs to combat his midlife crisis and discover the excitement that life has to offer. This newfound appreciation for sweets and romantic relationships may be just what he needs to break out of his monotonous routine.
