Once a meek and gentle painter of vases in Ancient Greece, Demetrios despises athletic events and rivalries. However, circumstances suddenly demand that he create a game to challenge the mayor of the nearby town, all so that he may safeguard his village. Unexpectedly, while seeking refuge within a spacious vase outside his workplace, Demetrios becomes caught in a lightning storm that sends him hurling through time and space. When he finally lands, he finds himself in Tokyo, Japan, during the Summer Olympics of the year 1964.
