The tale commences in the realm of Kabuki, where family status reigns supreme. Despite being born into a prestigious lineage as the son of a duke, Kyounosuke is unskilled. On the contrary, Ichiya, hailing from a non-Kabuki family, strives to climb the ranks based solely on his ability. By some stroke of fate, these two boys with opposing backgrounds both fall for the same girl, Ayame.
Kyounosuke yearns for Ayame's affection, hoping she'll see beyond his lack of talent. Consumed with regret, he'd even surrender his powerful connections if he only possessed real skill. Meanwhile, Ichiya longs to have Ayame's undivided attention. What will happen if he joins a prestigious household?
