Yukari Marii may appear innocent, but she holds a deep and concealed secret: her striking purple eyes see all living things as robots. Initially brushed off as a harmless quirk by her friend Manabu "Gaku" Hatou, he soon discovers that there is more truth to her perspective than he anticipated. Despite her peculiar worldview, Hatou feels an undeniable urge to protect Yukari due to her charming demeanor. On the other hand, Yukari perceives Hatou as an "adjustable, all-purpose robotic device."
Nevertheless, Yukari's unique and isolated perspective has caused her to feel alone, with even her old friend Nanami Tenjou treating her cruelly. Following a particular occurrence, Hatou learns that Yukari is not the only person with a distinct viewpoint, known as "Qualia." Upon Yukari's admission to an institution for those with Qualia, Hatou becomes entangled in a dangerous web of intrigue that she must escape.
