Rohan Kishibe, a skilled mangaka, has laid eyes on the blackest shade of pigment in the world. This particular color is linked to a puzzling occurrence where a French translator, the curator of the Louvre's Far East art section, and two firefighters vanished without a trace.
Three centuries ago, a Japanese artist by the name of Nizaemon Yamamura stumbled upon the deepest pigment ever known to humanity. However, he was executed for cutting down an ancient tree to acquire it. Following his demise, every painting he utilized the color on was believed to be cursed, seeping with animosity. When Nanase Fujikura narrates the tale to Rohan, he becomes immediately fascinated and discovers that one of Nizaemon's paintings was salvaged by a curator who took it to the Louvre.
Ten years later, Rohan journeys to Paris to investigate the painting. As he delves into the archives to uncover the foreboding piece, Rohan swiftly realizes that the curse has immense power beyond his wildest imagination.
