In the live-action adaptation of Route 225, we follow the journey of Eriko, a 14-year-old girl who is left to take care of her younger brother, Daigo, after their parents disappear. Rather unique to manga storytelling, the absence of the parents is a significant aspect of the plot. As they navigate through their new circumstances, Eriko and Daigo discover they are in a parallel dimension but are still able to communicate through cryptic messages sent to mobile phones back on Earth.
