Hikari Hanazono has made it her life's mission to beat her long-time rival, Kei Takishima, in every competition they engage in. Despite her immense talent, hard work, and intelligence, Kei always manages to outshine her, causing Hikari to become even more determined to emerge victorious.
Their rivalry started when they were just six years old, and Hikari lost to Kei in an impromptu wrestling match, marking her first ever defeat. Now, at the age of fifteen, Hikari joins the "Special A," a group of seven elite students at a prestigious private academy, hoping to finally overcome her rival.
"Mikansei Chorus" in Volume 1 and "Shoku no Miyako" (Food Paradise) in Volume 11 are some of the manga's one-shots and specials. The manga also includes supplementary material such as a short story in Volume 8, which reveals Kei's childhood and how he first met Hikari. In addition, there's a special short in Volume 9 that focuses on Yuhiro and Sakura's encounter. Volume 16 concludes with a special chapter dedicated to Hikari and Kei's middle school days.
