Yagyuu Yoshikane, famously known as Yagyuu Renyasai, descended from the valiant Shima Sakon. Sakon proved to be a capable warrior and served as an aide to Ishida Mitsunari during the Sekigahara combat against Tokugawa Ieyasu. Historical records present conflicting information on Sakon's fate as some suggest he perished in the conflict while others claim he secured safety in Kyoto with the Yagyuu clan.
