Despite being a highly skilled swordsman and fiercely loyal, Akitsu Masanosuke has been let go from several lordships because of his timid and naïve nature. He eventually turns to a job as a bodyguard for Yaichi, an enigmatic leader of the infamous "Five Leaves" gang, notorious for their shady dealings. Masa initially struggles with their questionable practices, but soon starts to question Yaichi's intentions. The more he interacts with the deceitful members of the Five Leaves, the more intrigued he becomes, despite his reservations.
