Rintarou harbors strong prejudices against women and despises his father's infidelity with their female neighbor. He adamantly refuses to follow his father's footsteps and frequently utilizes derogatory gender-specific terms when thinking about his female peers, with the exception of Azusa Yatsugi, who is the most unassuming girl in his class.
