Wakana Gojou is a freshman in high school who is deeply involved in his family's traditional doll-making business. However, he is a reserved individual who lacks friends due to the painful memories of his childhood friend who ridiculed his interest in dolls. This results in Gojou isolating himself from his classmates and their hobbies.
While Gojou's doll-making skills are still a work in progress, his exceptional talent in making dolls' clothing is noticed by his beautiful classmate Marin Kitagawa. Although he is envious of Kitagawa's boldness and honesty, he admires her for it. Kitagawa reveals her hobby of cosplaying as characters from erotic video games, but lacks the ability to sew her own costumes. This leads her to turn to Gojou for his expertise.
As a result, Gojou is dragged along to Kitagawa's numerous cosplay-related events, leading to her becoming his first friend who accepts him for who he is. Despite their opposing personalities, their friendship begins to bloom as they assist each other in the intricate world of cosplay.
