Initially, Kirari Aokigahara seems like your average, carefree freshman in high school. But when she skips school to attend a meeting at Seaside Cafe, hosted by Rushio, the moderator of Suicide Cafe, her true intentions become clear. Despite the solemn mood of the gathering, Kirari's vibrant personality shines through. After taking sleeping pills and inhaling toxic charcoal smoke with the group in a car, Kirari has a dream about a girl's suicide, and she realizes that something unusual is happening. She attempts suicide at home, only to discover that she cannot die.
As a result of this realization, Rushio reveals to Kirari that she has been chosen to be a "Suicide Girl," a magical girl tasked with protecting individuals from taking their own lives, including the girl from her dream.
