There exists a tale about the "batsu," an entity with god-like abilities akin to the sun, that rescued humans from a never-ending downpour. Nonetheless, standing in the presence of the batsu's scorching heat proved unbearable for common folk. Consequently, the batsu got banished to chilly lands, accompanied by contracted assistants who served him until they met their demise—or till he did.
Theo commences his duty with batsu Rei subsequent to the death of the previous housemaster, to whom Theo's mother was an indentured servant. Theo remembers meeting Rei as children, and he perceives him to be as stunning now as he was then. He believes that being a servant is a reasonable tradeoff as long as he can remain close to his idol. However, as their bond deepens, its intensity takes a devastating toll on Rei's body. The more Theo's adoration for Rei grows, the shorter their time together may become.
