Whilst on spring break on his way to Hokkaidou, high school student Kuze Shunpei loses his wallet and becomes stranded in the mountains when his motorcycle runs out of gas. He passes out in the snow on the roadside, but when he comes to, he discovers that he's been rescued and taken to the Watarai horse ranch; a farm that specializes in breeding race horses. Run by the owner and his family, which includes four daughters, Shunpei attempts to adapt to farm life, despite his city upbringing being in stark contrast to the laborious work required.
However, despite his best efforts, Shunpei constantly runs into trouble with Hibiki, the second daughter, who considers him to be useless. Their relationship comes to a head when Shunpei unintentionally startles one of the horses ridden by Hibiki. Distraught by his mistake, Shunpei flees back to Tokyo for the remainder of the spring break, only to find himself yearning for the simplicity and peacefulness of farm life.
