After completing six years of witch training, Nico Wakatsuki returns to town alone and in search of a unique familiar. Unlike her peers, the new witch believes that her companion need not be an animal. Enter Morihito "Moi" Otogi, an ogre and childhood friend, who initially refuses to be her servant. However, when he learns that disobedience could result in a curse turning him into a cow-tiger hybrid, he reluctantly agrees. Living under the same roof due to their respective parents' absence, Nico is thrilled to be with her crush, but Morihito is left grappling with her clumsy magical antics. With a prophesied disaster looming, the ogre must protect Nico as both her bodyguard and familiar.
