Kouichi Sakakibara was all set to begin his studies at a new school in Yomiyama town in the spring of 1998. However, his plans were thwarted when a collapsed lung landed him in the hospital. While wandering around the hospital, he had a chance encounter with Mei Misaki, a dark-haired girl in the uniform of his new school. Little did he know that they had unforeseen connections.
As soon as Sakakibara was deemed medically fit to attend Yomiyama North Middle School, he noticed that his classmates treated Misaki as if she were invisible. As he probed deeper into the mystery shrouding Misaki, the peculiar behavior of the other students only added to the intrigue. When members of Class 3-3 started dying in horrific ways for no apparent reason, Sakakibara began to suspect that Misaki was somehow linked to the escalating body count.
