The year is 2003, and Japan boasts a technological paradise where robots are ubiquitous. Tobio is one such creation, constructed by the brilliant Dr. Tenma in an effort to replace his deceased son. However, Tobio soon proves to be an inferior clone of the child he was modeled after, resulting in his dismissal by Dr. Tenma. Fortunately, Tobio is rescued from the scrap heap by the benevolent Professor Ochanomizu, an advocate for the rights of robots. After being renamed Astro Boy, the tiny robot is charged with the task of defending Japan and the world against numerous malevolent forces. Utilizing his seven impressive abilities and remarkable strength of 100,000 horsepower, Astro strives to demonstrate to the world the potential for good within all robots.
