The manga "Azumi" centers around the life of a female assassin named Azumi. It starts some years after the Battle of Sekigahara, and as Azumi embarks on her missions of assassination, the story brings in characters from mainstream history. Initially, Azumi's targets consist largely of prominent supporters and generals of the Toyotomi Clan, who anticipate another war against them.
