Unlike the other children, Lark stands out due to his red eyes, resembling those of vampires, and is often victimized by bullies. However, his life takes a turn when he encounters Setz, a true Vampire belonging to a prominent clan, who treats him with kindness and respect. Though initially acquaintances, the two develop a strong friendship that could be threatened by Lark's potential departure back to the orphanage. In a bid to keep Lark close, Setz proposes a visit to his domain - the realm of the Vampires.
