In the universe's V-Pet competition, Taichi is dismayed to learn that his Digimon does not meet the requirements for recognition, and he is prohibited from competing. Nonetheless, Taichi perseveres and takes on the winner, Neo Saiba, in a decisive match, an undertaking that appears impossible. Nevertheless, Taichi is successful, and his triumph attracts the attention of Lord HolyAngemon, who summons him to the Digital World. There, Taichi encounters his enigmatic V-Pet companion, Zeromaru the Veedramon.
