Set in a town reminiscent of Italy named Belmonte, the story encompasses a society that reflects late 19th-century technological advancements where human-like mechanical dolls known as "Automata" serve the general population. The taxi driver protagonist, Romeo, formerly involved in the "Olma Rossa" association, discovers an Automata resembling a young female with amnesia. He dubs her Anna and takes her under his wing, though the Olma Rossa begins to track him down, and another organization composed of Automata emerges, compelling Romeo to protect his newfound lifestyle.
