This collection features a series of short stories that follow the lives of working individuals through the perspective of Matsukata Hiroko - a 28-year-old single woman and editor of the weekly magazine, JIDAI. Her novice co-editor, Tanaka Kunio, frequently clashes with her, adding to her already high work-related stress levels, and showing little remorse for his errors. Despite her dedication to her work, Hiroko's masculinity is often remarked upon, as she works late hours, smokes heavily, abstains from sex, and prioritizes her career over all else. Nevertheless, when it comes to reporting, Hiroko enters into "Working Man" mode, where her productivity triples as she disregards all non-essential thoughts.
