Harou is the central character of the tale, leading a married life. A tragic accident on a rainy day results in him losing his wife. Heartbroken, he goes back to the pension where his wife once stayed to tend to the sunflowers he cherishes. Managing them wouldn't be simple, given that the proprietor is upset with Harou and believes he's responsible for his sibling's death. However, he employs Harou despite this accusation.
